It has certainly been an interesting time to observe the motor industry over the past few months.
There has been much jockeying for position by the major groups, seeking control of the UK markets.

This article was written several years ago. Ford has recently announced that it has taken on Jardines' Joint Venture entirely under its wing and we have no doubt it will be run very differently. Publishing it here is not a comment on Ford, but the shape of the industry, and the process of change we are currently going through
Recent moves by Ford have shaken some parts of the industry out of its complacency. Things may never be the same again.

It is a fascinating business this. When times are really certain, good or bad, the market is always busy. When it is good, there are plenty of jobs around, though frustratingly not enough candidates to fill them. When it is bad, you don't have to find candidates, they find you - it is just the jobs that disappear off the face of the planet.

We hear so much that is wrong about Europe and the way it affects us that we tend to believe everything we hear. Our industry has been particularly challenged by European Legislation.
My thanks to the Forum of Private Business who published this press release, which puts straight a story circulated by the tabloids that got many people's backs up. Europe is not perfect by any means, but we are naive if we believe every scare story written about it.
