Automotive Management 09/06/00
I know I’m a couple of weeks late, but I’d love to wish Automotive Management a very happy birthday.
We appeared in the very first issue with the article below. A lot has changed since then, and with rumors of yet more takeovers in the wings (and some quite big ones too) a lot could change over the next few months.
Despite the rapidly changing face of the industry, the principles of finding and developing a successful career remain unchanged. And more importantly, the wrong people still seem to end up in the wrong job because the right people are not as good at shouting about their achievements.
Things have got better, and with the rise in IT people are having to produce professional looking documents to apply for jobs. They are still not prepared to really sing their own praises in a way that others will understand and recognize however. Perhaps this article will serve to remind you of the way to do it.
So Happy Birthday Automotive Management. You are a grown up publication now in a mature industry (although sometimes it does not act its age). Continue to serve the industry for the next ten years in whatever form it takes.
